Teaching | Courses on Southeast Asia in the Winter Term 2014/2015
The departments of History and Economics at the University of Freiburg are offering courses on Southeast Asia in the upcoming summer term.
The University of Freiburg´s research group on Southeast Asia was represented with an institutional panel at the 2nd Philippine International Studies Organization´s (PHISO) Conference on "Re-Thinking Regions in Global International Relations"
In Davos City, Philippines, 23-24 March 2018 Jürgen Rüland presented a paper on "The Geopolitics of Competitive Connectitvity: Power, Institutions and Diminshed Multilateralism in Indo-Pacific Asia;" Anna Fünfgeld on "Energy Infrastructurs as Multi-Scalar Challenges of ASEAN Physical Connectitivty;" Stefan Rother on "Migration Governance through Transnational Connectivity? The Asian Inter-Parliamentary Caucus on Migration;" and Lukas Maximilian Müller on "Governing Regional Connectivity. The Role of the ASEAN Secreteriat and ASEAN´s External Partners."

World Class Professor Program (WCP)
Prof. Schlehe was invited in September 2017 to visit the Center of Southeast Asian Social Studies at Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta. The invitation was funded by the “World Class Professor Program” of the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia. Prof. Schlehe conducted research on maritime disasters (“Notions of Nature and the Normalization of Danger at the South Coast of Java”). In the Winter term 2017/18 the „Southeast Asian Studies at Freiburg“ group will host a visit of six Indonesian scholars.
