Four PhD thesis in Sociocultural Anthropology have been published recently. Gerrit Gonschorek's thesis in Economics has won this year’s Young Talent Award for Development Research by the KfW-Development Bank/German Economic Association (Verein für Socialpolitik).

Gerrit Gonschorek receives this year's Young Talent Award for Development Research by the KfW-Development Bank/German Economic Association (Verein für Socialpolitik)

Dr. Gerrit Gonschorek received the first price for his PhD thesis on decentralization policy in Indonesia and the role of political economy motives in the transfer of state revenues from the central government level to lower administrative levels. The results are of direct relevance for Indonesian policy and also provide valuable insights for the design of state transfer mechanisms in young, economically dynamic democracies.

Dissertation Prize for Mirjam Lücking: German Anthropological Association gives distinction to thesis on the “Arabic world” of Indonesia

The German Anthropological Association (DGSKA) has bestowed its first Dissertation Prize on Dr. Mirjam Lücking. Lücking, a cultural anthropologist, receives prize money of 1,000 euros for her doctoral thesis, “Indonesians and their Arab World. Guided Mobility among Labour Migrants and Mecca Pilgrims.”
