The next Collaborative Colloquium will be "Neoliberalism and Shadow Economies" on 7 July from 1400-1600 in the Institut für Völkerkunde Seminarraum. We will focus on the dynamic interaction between neoliberalism and covert/underground/shadow economies. In particular, I will examine this interaction in the Vietnamese context using scenes from the 1999 film "Three Seasons" and the introduction of Aihwa Ong's 2006 book, Neoliberalism as Exception: Mutations in Citizenship and Sovereignty (Durham N.C.: DukeUniversity Press).
