Lecture and Exhibition on Political Freedom in Southeast Asia and Screening of "The Act of Killing" at Kommunales Kino Freiburg on 18 February

On 18 February, two events will take place at Kommunales Kino Freiburg (KoKi). Genia Findeisen from Stiftung Asienhaus Köln will give a lecture on Freedom of the Press and Freedom of Expression in Southeast Asia to accompany an exhibition on display at KoKi. Afterwards, there will be a screening of "The Act of Killing" by Joshua Oppenheimer. Both events will be held in German.

On 12 December 2014, a DAAD-sponsored delegation of Indonesian university and think tank scholars will visit the University of Freiburg. The FRIAS Research Focus program "Dynamic Alignments and Dealignments in Global Southeast" Asia provides the program for the delegation.

The topic of her presentation is 'Strategic Non-Alignments of "Culture" and "Religion" in Contemporary Indonesia'
FRIAS Fellowships in the Winter and Summer Terms 2014/2015
In the upcoming Winter and Summer Terms, five internal as well as two external fellows will be hosted by the Freiburg Institute of Advanced Studies for one year. The fellowships are embedded in the FRIAS Research Focus "Dynamic Alignments and De-Alignments in Global Southeast Asia". The internal senior fellows are Prof. Jürgen Rüland, Prof. Judith Schlehe, Prof. Günther Schulze and Prof. Sabine Dabringhaus, the external junior fellows are Agus Suwignyo and Katja Rangsivek. Additionally, Stefan Rother has been awarded an internal junior fellowship.
