Anna Fünfgeld presented papers on "Energy Infrastructure as Multi-Scalar Challenges of ASEAN Connectivity" and "Just Energy? Social Justice and the Indonesian Coal Sector". Maria-Gabriela Manea and Jürgen Rüland spoke on “Localizing Parliamentary Oversight: A Comparative Area Studies Approach to Military Reform in Indonesia and Nigeria”. Jürgen Rüland co-chaired (with Patrick Köllner, GIGA Hamburg) the section on “Comparative Area Studies” and presented a paper on “Context, Concepts and Comparison in Southeast Asian Studies” (co-authored with Mikko Huotari, MERICS, Berlin).

Call for Applications: FRIAS Fellowship Program
In the academic year 2014/2015 the Freiburg Institute for Advanced Studies (FRIAS) will organize a one‐year FRIAS Research Focus on "Dynamic Alignments and Dealignments in Global Southeast Asia".
