EADI Prize for Excellence in Development Research for Anne-Kathrin Weber
Anne-Kathrin Weber, member of the International Relations Chair and the Southeast Asian studies group was awarded the EADI Prize for Excellence in Development Research. She received the award for her paper "Why Companies Go Green - A Constructivist View on Corporate Sustainability Activities in the Forest Sector." The paper was submitted to the European Association for Development Research and Training Institutes' (EADI) Nordic Conference held in Bergen at 21-23 August 2017. The paper, inter-alia, also draws from experiences in Indonesia.

World Class Professor Program (WCP)
Prof. Schlehe was invited in September 2017 to visit the Center of Southeast Asian Social Studies at Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta. The invitation was funded by the “World Class Professor Program” of the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia. Prof. Schlehe conducted research on maritime disasters (“Notions of Nature and the Normalization of Danger at the South Coast of Java”). In the Winter term 2017/18 the „Southeast Asian Studies at Freiburg“ group will host a visit of six Indonesian scholars.
