Prof. Rüland has been giving several lectures related to Southeast Asia. Here is a brief overview of his most recent presentations.

Southeast Asian Studies at the University of Freiburg, the FRIAS Research Group on Southeast Asia in cooperation with the Center for Transcultural Asian Studies (CETRAS) are organizing a seminar looking back at the first four months of the Jokowi presidency.

"Social Identities in Contemporary Indonesia; a new framework of studying Asia" is a collaborative project, run by a team of researchers from The Australian National University and University of Freiburg, and sponsored by Australia's Group of Eight (Go8) universities and the German Academic Exchange Service.

During his stay in February and March 2018, he will give lectures and conduct research on the topic of migration and democracy.

Günther Schulze spoke about the following project-related-topics in the past term:

Fieldwork exercise in teams: Nine students from Anthropology and International Relations from Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta, collaborate with their research partners from Freiburg University for four weeks, under the joint supervision of four lecturers from UGM and Prof. Schlehe and Prof. Rüland (funded by DAAD)

The international and interdisciplinary tandem-research-cooperation between the Gadjah Mada University Yogyakarta and the University of Freiburg will be continued in summer 2013. Nine Indonesian students of cultural anthropology and political science will come to Freiburg in June 2013 and conduct field research with students from Freiburg University.

Four Indonesian students of cultural anthropology will come to Freiburg in May 2019 and conduct field research with students from Freiburg University under the theme "Anthropology of Environmental Activism".

The departments of Political Science, Cultural and Social Anthropology, Economics and History of Freiburg University are offering several courses on Southeast Asia in the upcoming summer term.
