Bambang Sjahrir Putra

Bambang Suharnoko Firmansyah Sjahrir Putra is a PhD student at the Institute of Economic Research, Department of International Economic Policy of the University of Freiburg. He received a B.Sc. in Economics from University of Indonesia and a M.Sc. in Money, Banking and Finance from The University of Birmingham, UK. Prior to pursuing his PhD Mr. Sjahrir was an Economist in The World Bank Indonesia Office, Jakarta. In that capacity he conducted several research and policy analyses focused on decentralization and public expenditure at national and sub-national levels. He led the Public Expenditure Analysis and Capacity Harmonization (PEACH) project in Papua and led the development of the PEACH project in other provinces such as Gorontalo and East Nusa Tenggara. In addition, he was part of the core team that conducted Damage and Loss analysis after the tsunami in Aceh and the earthquake in Yogyakarta. He co-authored World Bank Policy Research Papers on intergovernmental fiscal transfer, local business climate and determinants of regional growth. His current research interests are the linkages between decentralization, public service delivery and governance.
