German Association for Asian Studies (DGA)
To become a member of the "Nachwuchsgruppe" (Young Scholars Group), you have to become a member of the DGA first. Annual membership fee for students is 28 Euro which includes subscription to 4 issues of ASIEN - The German Journal on Contemporary Asia. (Bi-lingual Website)
German Institute of Global and Area Studies (GIGA) Hamburg
The GIGA German Institute of Global and Area Studies, formerly the German Overseas Institute, is a Hamburg-based research institute focused on political, economic and social developments in Africa, Asia, Latin America, North Africa, and the Middle East. Through a unique combination of area and comparative area studies, the GIGA examines not only the issues and challenges facing these specific regions but also new developments in North-South and South-South relationships. The GIGA is the largest German research institute for area and comparative area studies. It is also among the largest in Europe.

Young Scholars Group of the German Association for Asian Studies
The "Nachwuchsgruppe" (young scholars group) of the "Deutsche Gesellschaft für Asienkunde" (DGA) (German Association for Asian Studies) is open to all students/scholars of all nationalities and organizes regular workshops (on methodology, fieldwork, publications...) as well as conferences, where young scholars can present their research.
