The Role of the Women’s Union in Can Tho City
The objective of the proposed research is to contribute to a better understanding of the relevance of gender in the context of water resources management in the South of Vietnam. Following a case study approach, the study will investigate the respective role and scope of activities of the Vietnam Women’s Union (VWU), which supports the promotion of water related services and has a significant membership rate among the rural female population. Many of these programs are meant to respond to the specific needs of women, but little is known on how these specific needs are being identified and which impact these programs actually have. Moreover, the study aims to contribute to a better understanding of how the VWU operates at commune and district levels and how their activities relate to other mass organizations, state agencies and broader policy objectives.

Ausschreibung Forschung für MA Student/in
Im Rahmen des BMBF-geförderten WISDOM Projektes (Water-related Information System for the Sustainable Development of the Mekong Delta, Vietnam, http://www.wisdom.caf.dlr.de), sucht das ZEF eine/n MA-Student/in eines sozialwissenschaftlichen Studiengangs zur Bearbeitung des folgenden Themas:

The Role of the Women’s Union in Can Tho City
Aufgaben:
- Durchführung einer dreimonatigen, qualitativen sozialwissenschaftlichen Feldforschung zur Rolle der Frauenunion in Bezug auf Wasserressourcenmanagement in Can Tho City, Mekong Delta/ Vietnam;
- Erstellung eines Forschungsberichts in englischer Sprache; idealerweise wird dieser im Rahmen einer Masterarbeit ausgearbeitet.
Anforderungen:
- MA Studium der Sozialwissenschaften;
- Kenntnisse in (qualitativen) Feldforschungsmethoden;
- Englischkenntnisse sind Voraussetzung, Kenntnisse des Vietnamesischen von Vorteil;
- Expertise zu Vietnam und / oder Südostasien sowie in Gender Studies ist wünschenswert.
