Collaborative Colloquium | Upcoming session on 3 November and beyond

This semester, the topic of the collaborative colloquia will be "Contentious Politics: Communism in Southeast Asia". The first session will take place next monday, 3 November, with a guest lecture by Patrick Hesse (History, Humboldt University Berlin).

The Colloquium will take place from 4 to 6 PM in the Seminarraum of the Anthropology Department (Werthmannstr. 10, first floor).

Additionally to our ColCol meetings in this semester we arranged a cooperation with Kommunales Kino Freiburg where we a planning to show one movie on communism in SEA every month, staring in December this year. The exact dates as well as the movies shown will be published here as soon as possible.

As many of the movies we plan to show are under censorship in their countries of origin, the contentious politics series will be completed by an exhibition on “Freedom of media and opinion” that we borrowed from Stiftung Asienhaus. The exhibition will be shown between 16 February 2015 and 28 February 2015 in the gallery of the Alte Wiehrebahnhof (Urachstr. 40). It will be opened by a lecture of Genia Findeisen (Stiftung Asienhaus).

Further ColCol meetings will take place 1 December 2014 and 12 January 2015
